SUAF-WDC: Activate the Berry Administration!
Good day, Southernites and Friends of Southern!
I greet you with an abundance of joy on this first day of July 2023 and the official kickoff of the new administration for the Southern University Alumni Federation Washington, DC Chapter.
I want to extend my gratitude to our Immediate Past President, Ms. Antoria Simms, and her administration, on successfully leading our chapter during a global pandemic, administering over $16,000 in scholarships this past fiscal year to area students attending Southern, and growing our chapter membership to the tune of 182 financial members! It was a pleasure to serve under her administration, and I look forward to her advice during my administration.
Three things to put on your radar:
Today, July 1, marks the start of a new membership cycle, which means it’s time to renew your membership. We welcome new members, returning members, and affiliate members -those who are Friends of Southern- to join our chapter! Annual chapter dues are $50. You can remit your dues HERE.
Join us at the HBCU Family Reunion hosted by the DMV SWAC Alumni Social Committee, Saturday, July 22 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM ET at Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria, VA. Mix-and-Mingle with the new SUAF-WDC chapter officers and enjoy a few special nibbles at the Southern tent to express our appreciation for our members. Tickets are $30 for adults and $12 for children (ages 6-12) and are available for purchase HERE.
Save-the-Date: First Chapter Meeting of the fiscal year is Saturday, August 12, 2023, and our annual Mardi Gras Ball is set for Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Westin Old Town Alexandria (Virginia). More details to follow.
