The Mardi Gras Ball Royal Court
The Mardi Gras Ball Royal Court concept was first introduced at the start of President Berry’s administration in 2023 in conjunction with the establishment of the Captain’s Initiative. Prior, the Chapter President would identify a Mardi Gras Ball King and Queen and make a surprise announcement during the Ball.

2026 Royal Court
No Royal Court was revealed in 2026 given the Chapter opted to host a Mardi Gras Soiree instead of a Ball.
2027 Royal Court
Members of the Mardi Gras Ball Royal Court will be selected from each of the three Captain categories—Legacy Starters, Legacy Champions, and Legacy Luminaries—based on their fundraising totals as 12:00 PM ET (noon), Saturday, January 30, 2027.
Each Captain category will crown its own King and Queen, recognizing the highest fundraising man and woman within that respective category. In addition, the overall top fundraising man and woman across all Captain categories will be crowned Grand Legacy King and Grand Legacy Queen, the highest honors of the Captain's Initiative.
To ensure broad recognition of fundraising excellence, individuals selected as Grand Legacy King or Grand Legacy Queen will not simultaneously hold a King or Queen title within their respective Captain category. In such cases, the category-specific title will be awarded to the next highest-ranking eligible fundraiser within that category.
This structure allows the Royal Court to celebrate achievement at every level of the Captain's Initiative while honoring the chapter's most outstanding overall fundraisers.
Captains will compete in the category in which they started at the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1, 2026. All new Captains are considered Legacy Starters. Progression to a new category will formally occur after the deadline for qualifying for the 2027 Mardi Gras Ball Royal Court. For example, if a Legacy Starter or Legacy Champion reaches Legacy Luminary status between now and the Mardi Gras Ball, they will be honored at the Ball for becoming a new member of the Captain’s Circle (Legacy Luminary); however, for purposes of competing for placement on the Mardi Gras Ball Royal Court, they will be considered in the Legacy Starter or Legacy Champion category for which they started at the beginning of the fiscal year.
The Royal Court will be announced during the “Legacy in Gold” Mardi Gras Ball on January 30, 2027.
