The Captain’s Initiative

The Captain’s Initiative was launched in July 2023 at the beginning of Dr. Ivory Berry’s presidency as a call to action for chapter members, alumni, and supporters to join the Executive Board in advancing the mission of the Southern University Alumni Federation – Washington, DC Chapter. Created to strengthen the chapter’s fundraising efforts, the initiative empowers participants to support scholarships, signature programs, community engagement, and operational priorities that sustain the chapter’s impact throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area.

Fundraising Progress

Since its inception, the Captain’s Initiative has generated more than $50,000 in support of the chapter’s mission and strategic goals. This remarkable achievement reflects the collective commitment of our alumni, friends, sponsors, and community partners who believe in investing in the future of Southern University.

As we enter Fiscal Year 2026–2027, we invite you to continue building upon the legacy of excellence established during the Berry Administration. Together, we are working toward raising an additional $25,000 to reach the significant milestone of $75,000 raised through the Captain’s Initiative. Every contribution helps expand scholarship opportunities, strengthen chapter operations, enhance signature events, and ensure that the Southern University legacy continues to thrive for generations to come.
