Vincent M. Brown Washington D.C. Alumni Chapter Endowed Scholarship

Dear Southernites and Friends of Southern,

One year ago today, July 25, 2022, we were saddened by the news announcing former SUAF-WDC president Mr. Vincent Brown’s untimely transition. He loved God. He loved his wife, Verna, and his family and friends. He loved the DC Chapter and the special relationships that he formed with the members. He loved Southern University, unconditionally.

We miss him dearly, and today, on this anniversary, we pause to reflect on his memory, and do what he never hesitated to do, and that is to find a way to give back to Southern University.

On February 10, 2018, during Vincent’s administration, the DC Chapter established a $25,000 endowed scholarship fund called the Southern University Alumni Federation, Washington, DC Chapter Endowed Scholarship Fund of Higher Education. Upon Vincent’s passing, the chapter renamed the scholarship to the Vincent M. Brown Washington DC Alumni Chapter Endowed Scholarship in recognition of our beloved former leader. Recently, the endowment reached its second goal of $50,000!

Please join the DC Chapter and the Brown Family today in encouraging donations to the Vincent M. Brown Washington DC Alumni Chapter Endowed Scholarship, as we continue to reflect on the memories we shared with Vincent and carry out his legacy of Loving Southern to Success through our time, talent, and treasure.

Red beans and ricely yours,

Dr. Ivory M. Berry
